王爾德童話：夜鶯、星之子

“She said she will dance with me if I give her a red rose,” said the student. He fall in love with the Professor’s daughter. A nightingale, who always sang of love and happiness, was deeply impressed by this true lover. It decided to help the student to find a red rose in winter no matter what the sacrifice is.

 

What will happen to the nightingale and will the student fulfill his dream?

 

“Love is a stupid thing. I prefer to study books. They are much more interesting and useful…Yes, logic is much more useful than love. I will go home and study philosophy and metaphysics.”

 

How come the student has such thought eventually?

 

Let’s read the story of “The nightingale and the rose”. It’s from the book “Oscar Wilde’s short stories”.

 

Oscar Wilde is one of my favorite writers. He wrote poems, short stories and plays. I love his novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. Oscar Wilde was a very clever and humorous man.

 

Once he said “There’s one thing I hate more than people talking about me…and that’s people not talking about me. “

 

“Oscar Wilde’ short stories” included another two stories, “The young king” and “The Star-child”. Although they are simple, they showed the different social status between the rich and the poor.
