英國文學之Oliver Twist

The HKDSE English Literature Examination held today. So let’s read a book from one of the most famous English authors.

He is probably the most famous orphan in world literature. Do you know who Oliver Twist is?

Oliver lost her mother when he was born. He was sent to a workhouse. The children there only got thin soup as meal everyday. Oliver asked for more soup Mr Bumble, the master, was upset and sent Oliver to a shop which made coffin.

Oliver went away to London but his misery didn’t end. He lived among the thieves under Fagin. They tried to train Oliver to be a criminal. Fortunately, Oliver met Mr Brownlow and had a new home.

However, the thieves found Oliver and forced him to work with them. Can Oliver escape and change his fate?

“Oliver Twist”(F DIC) is written by great novelist Charles Dickens. This version is quite interesting and you will enjoy the ups and downs of Oliver’s life. It is also on the S.1 English literature booklist of a school in Tsuen Wan. It will be available soon in school library.

Oliver逃往倫敦，可是不幸故事並未告終。他與Fagin旗下的一批小偷同住，他們想把Oliver訓練成罪犯，幸好他遇上Mr Brownlow並得到新的家。

可是，小偷找到Oliver還強迫他加入偷竊行列，Oliver能夠逃走及改變命運嗎？

“Oliver Twist”《苦海孤雛》(F DIC)是英國偉大作家Charles Dickens狄更斯的小說。這個版本寫得精彩，你會投入於Oliver生活的高低起伏。本書也被列入荃灣友校中一英文書單，稍後將在圖書館推出。
